ADEC Innovations Receives Three ISO Re-Certifications

ADEC Innovations remains true to its commitment to excellence after receiving three International Organization for Standards (ISO) re-certifications from TUV Rheinland Philippines. March 5, 2021 — ADEC Innovations remains true to its commitment to excellence after receiving three International Organization for Standards (ISO) re-certifications from TUV Rheinland Philippines. As a result of an extensive audit conducted from February 22 to March 5, ADEC Innovations once again received the ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 27001:2013 certifications. This is ADEC Innovations’ fourth consecutive year of receiving the three certifications with zero incidences of non-conformance. Asia-Pacific and Oceania Regional Head Andrew Paterson also noted that this year’s achievement is a significant milestone to the company, as it is the first audit conducted virtually. ISO 9001:2015 is dedicated to Quality Management Systems (QMS) and outlines a framework to improve the quality of products and services and consistently meet the expectations of customers and clients. ISO 14001:2015, on the other hand, serves as the benchmark for an Environmental Management System (EMS) that an organization can use to enhance its environmental performance. ISO 27001:2013 outlines a best-practice standard on an Information Security Management System (ISMS) that sufficiently protects sensitive data from cyberthreats. Commitment to standards These certifications are validations of the controls placed in the company’s Philippine operations. The audit also revealed 19 positive findings and 26 opportunities for improvement. For Vice President on Compliances Mark Barro, these findings are vital to the company’s pursuit of continuous improvement. “This year’s audit couldn’t have been successful without everyone’s collective effort and dedication to their work. It only goes to show how excellence is a core value of every ADEC employee,” Barro said. General Manager Jurgen Tanpho, meanwhile, further lauded how the organization prepared for the audit for more than a year. “While others consider these audits as a two-week process, ADEC Innovations strives to make ISO part of its daily operations,” Tanpho said. Through these certifications, ADEC Innovations reassures its clients of its compliance to global standards in the delivery of innovative business solutions.

Digitalization Takes Center Stage as ADEC Innovations Wins Third Top Exporter Award

ADEC Innovations’ winning the Top Services Exporter Award for the third consecutive year comes across as timely, with the current pandemic compelling businesses to double down on digitalization in building back better. December 3, 2020, Manila, Philippines — ADEC Innovations’ winning the Top Services Exporter Award for the third consecutive year comes across as timely, with the current pandemic compelling businesses to double down on digitalization in building back better. ADEC Innovations was once again named the top exporter for services for this year’s virtual National Export Congress, organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). For ADEC Innovations CEO James Donovan, the company’s third consecutive award holds more significance after a tumultuous year. “COVID-19 has disrupted the operations of every business. But with the help of our government partners, and with the dedication of our Filipino workforce, ADEC Innovations was able to go back to business as usual within two weeks,” Donovan said. Innovations in the new normal With the theme “Digitalization Boost: Invigorating Exports in the New Normal,” this year’s National Export Congress reiterated and expanded last year’s discussions on driving digital transformation throughout industries. Both businesses and governments around the world had to adopt innovative programs in the wake of the pandemic, according to DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez. Citing a joint study by the World Bank and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Lopez called for the rapid adoption of digital technologies to recover from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. “This crisis has underlined that going digital is the best and only solution during the pandemic, and that we should seize the opportunity this offers,” Lopez said in his keynote address. Even before the pandemic, ADEC Innovations has already been driving digital transformation among governments and organizations. For more than two decades, the company has been driving sustainable practices and empowering better decision-making through its data management solutions. “We take pride in being one of the companies that have exported not only our services, but also our leadership and expertise to the world,” Donovan said. Outlook for exporters In the midst of the new normal, Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PHILEXPORT) President Sergio R. Ortiz-Luis, Jr. indicated a positive outlook for Filipino exporters. “The Philippine export industry is recovering: resilient and open for business as we commit to continuously evolve as a reliable competitive global supplier, especially in this new normal,” Ortiz-Luis said. Lopez also expressed his gratitude to service exporters like ADEC Innovations, lauding them as “beacons of hope and inspiration for other Philippine exporters and [the] country’s pursuit of sustainable economic progress.” This year’s Top Exporter Awardees were once again chosen based on their exemplary contributions and excellence in their chosen field. ADEC Innovations first received the recognition in 2018, and has received the award consecutively ever since.

ADEC Innovations Amidst Covid-19

With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to spread around the world, industries from various sectors have taken unprecedented but necessary measures aimed at continuously delivering services while protecting the welfare of employees.

ADEC Innovations, for its part, has focused on maintaining critical services for customers while prioritizing the safety and welfare of its staff. In line with ADEC’s Business Continuity Management (BCM) plans, we have established a fast-paced and flexible plan of action to adjust to this new reality.

Work-from-home arrangements have been made available, especially to those working on critical operations for clients who have agreed with this business continuity approach. This set-up is supported by systems and mechanisms designed for effective telecommuting as an essential aspect of protecting services.

On-site employees managing the backbone of our operations have also been provided accommodation and transport arrangements in compliance with the strict community quarantine controls imposed by the government. Additionally, adherence to rigorous safety, cleanliness, and social distancing directives by local authorities were enforced in our operations centres, across our various locations.

We continue to closely monitor the global and local developments on COVID-19 through hands-on leadership, with particular emphasis on enabling various task forces to create an informed employee base.

In the coming days, we will be focusing on ensuring the security of our operations, as well as strictly maintaining the continuity of execution of our services.

This transition has been challenging for management and employees, but, thanks to everyone’s hard work, we have been able to implement our service recovery plan successfully.

As the world continues to deal with the growing threat of COVID-19, ADEC Innovations wishes to assure our stakeholders that we remain steadfast in our commitment to address the needs of clients and staff during this challenging time.

ADEC Innovations CEO Stresses the Need for Integrated Frameworks in Achieving SDGs

ADEC Innovations CEO James Donovan speaks in front of governments, private sector and civil society representatives during the Business Assembly at the recently concluded Tenth Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF10) in Abu Dhabi, UAE. February 13, 2020, Abu Dhabi, UAE— Achieving the common vision of sustainable cities around the world will require an engaging framework for the private sector, and integrated reporting can play a vital role in spurring immediate and concrete actions. This was the call raised by ADEC Innovations CEO James Donovan in the Business Assembly during the recently-concluded Tenth Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF10), where he was joined by other global leaders in discussing their roles in realizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UN Habitat’s New Urban Agenda (NUA). For Donovan, norms and standards that measure any organization’s progress on sustainability are seen to play an increasingly important role in contributing to these global goals. “There is a need to bridge the communication gap between governments, multilateral organizations, the private sector, and society to ultimately achieve sustainable development. Norms and standards will provide an environment that enables us to address the significant trillions of dollars in financial gap to achieving the SDGs,” Donovan explained. Integrated reporting, in particular, is seen to have the potential to influence the private sector and pave the way for actual change. “People-first PPPs (public-private partnerships) supported by data are important, especially in measuring the non-financial aspects to translate these investments’ value and impact,” Donovan said. These sentiments were in response to the challenge posed by UN Habitat’s Executive Director Maimunah Mohd Sharif, who urged all WUF10 participants to focus on concrete outcomes for sustainable cities. “I know that we share a common vision of sustainable and safer cities. We will go further today. We know that urbanization is unstoppable,” Sharif said. Donovan was joined by the UN Development Programme’s Policy Advisor on Inclusive Growth Renata Rubian, Global Development incubator Wadzi Katsidzira, and ARCADIS Shelter Programme Director Bert Smolders in the business assembly moderated by Monitoring and Evaluation Collaborative Association (MECA) Vice President Gabriel Pettyjohn. During the assembly, Donovan, along with his fellow panelists, engaged in discussions on the role of cross-sectoral collaboration in upgrading the sustainability of cities globally and how to set standards for such collaborations. Realizing standards and norms is one of the core competencies of Donovan’s company, ADEC Innovations, which provides assurance solutions for governments, businesses, and coalitions in following international guidelines and agreements. ADEC Innovations Receives Top Philippine Exporter Award For Second Straight Year

Manila, Philippines

For the second straight year, ADEC Innovations received the Excellence Award for Service Export during this year’s National Export Congress, organised by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

DTI again recognised ADEC Innovations and its significant contributions in the field of knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) and in the services outsourcing industry as a whole in 2019.

Co-founder and CFO Carol Esguerra, Executive Director for Industry Affairs Jeanette Carillo, and Marketing Director Dave Buenviaje received the recognition during the awarding ceremony held at the Philippine International Convention Centre.

Among the attendees were DTI secretary Ramon Lopez, Export Management Bureau Director Senen Perlada, and Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PHILEXPORT) President Sergio R. Ortiz-Luis, Jr.

Prior to the awarding ceremony, DTI officials and representatives from the public and private sectors discussed avenues and opportunities to drive exports through digital transformation with a series of panel discussions. As the panelists noted, many Filipino companies have yet to fully embrace true digital transformation despite expressing their interest in doing so.

Driving organisations towards digital transformation is at the core of ADEC Innovations and its services for more than two decades.

“Digitising physical assets and analyzing data is something we have been doing since we started as a BPO company,” Esguerra said.

Innovative services, like the solutions offered by ADEC Innovations, are essential in an increasingly digital world, according to Perlanan. “Companies have to adapt to digital transformation. Otherwise, they might be left behind,” Perlada said.

With this latest recognition, ADEC Innovations strengthens its position at the forefront of the KPO industry, and in the outsourcing industry as a whole.

This year’s Excellence Award for Service Export lauded companies that made exemplary contributions and exhibited excellence in their chosen fields.

Nominees were selected by their respective industry associations, with the winners determined through rigorous criteria.

UNDP, DENR and ADEC Innovations to develop a Biodiversity Monitoring and Investment Platform

The UNDP through the Biodiversity Finance Initiative together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ Biodiversity Management Bureau and ADEC Innovations committed to work together to develop an online Biodiversity Monitoring and Evaluation system and an investment platform to meet national targets for biodiversity conservation. Manila, Philippines (4 March 2019) – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN) together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) through its Biodiversity Management Bureau and ADEC Innovations Corporation committed to work together to develop an online Biodiversity Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) system and an investment platform to meet national targets for biodiversity conservation. The M&E Platform is one of BIOFIN Philippines’ 21 finance solutions all aimed at narrowing the huge financing gap for the Philippine Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (PBSAP) implementation, the country’s roadmap to sustainably manage its biodiversity. The Platform will track the progress of the implementation of the PBSAP while mobilizing resources from various mechanisms such as corporate social responsibility, crowdfunding, diaspora or migrant philanthropy, and impact investment. The Platform is also envisioned to foster transparency and accountability on investments made for biodiversity thereby increasing both public and private sector participation to unlock capital towards sustainable biodiversity financing. This is in the context that there is an estimated gap of almost PhP19B (USD 349M) in the annual budget (2015-2028) for biodiversity efforts in the Philippines. ADEC Innovations Corporation recognizes the importance of developing such Platform and has committed to work hand in hand with UNDP-BIOFIN Philippines and DENR-BMB. “We at ADEC Innovations see the value in developing this platform as a way to achieve the Philippines’ targets for biodiversity conservation,” said James Donovan, CEO of ADEC Innovations. “This initiative not only requires work from the government and public agencies, but also calls for efforts from us in the private sector as we undoubtedly share the same vision with the Philippine government when it comes to sustainable management of natural resources,” Donovan added. “Clearly there is big opportunity to leverage the capital, capabilities and innovation available from the private sector for biodiversity conservation. UNDP is delighted to have the opportunity to work with ADEC Innovations, known for its software development capabilities, to create this unique platform to monitor and promote public and private investments in biodiversity conservation. This will be an invaluable tool for DENR to help it bridge the financing gap,” as seconded by Titon Mitra, UNDP Resident Representative. Encapsulating the country’s rich and vast data from various agencies and organizations, this Platform will provide visibility on and serve as repository of information on biodiversity-related projects and initiatives nationwide. The information provided by the Platform are expected to allow for making informed decisions for government programming and budgeting as well as for private investments for biodiversity contributing to the achievement of the Philippine Development Plan targets, Aichi Biodiversity Targets, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals Targets. It will also aid in the Philippines’ reporting to the Convention on Biological Diversity, a fulfillment of its international obligation. “I am excited about this partnership especially on working with UNDP and ADEC Innovations. I am looking forward to more years of partnership and learning more about this initiative,” said Director Crisanta Marlene Rodriguez of the Biodiversity Management Bureau and added that BMB will facilitate DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu’s signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for this undertaking. She assured that DENR Secretary Cimatu, as a biodiversity advocate himself, will strongly support this initiative. ### About Biodiversity Financing Initiative (BIOFIN) Launched in 2012, the Biodiversity Finance Initiative – BIOFIN, as a new global partnership, seeks to address the biodiversity finance challenge in a comprehensive manner – building a sound business case for increased investment in the management of ecosystems and biodiversity, with a particular focus on the needs and transformational opportunities at the national level.
